Whoever thought of instituting mandatory public education is a genius. Kaitlyn and Kelsey both headed off this morning for their first day of school. I expected to have a little difficulty getting Kelsey to go into her class (since the past couple of days she has told me she didn't want to go) but we had no problem. She hung up her bookbag like a pro, strolled inside and gave Mrs. Yolanda a hug, and went straight to the business of playing. Not one shed tear. Not even one look back. I could have used a quick glance, but I guess it was harder for me than her. Once I got home, I noticed the silence. Blissfully quiet, except for the occasional interruption that is Roger. Don't get me wrong...I love my girls like crazy. They are awesome kids. But it's nice to have a little quiet every now and then. After a couple hours, I found myself wondering what they were doing, eagerly anticipating the end of the school day. They are home now. Both had a great day although Kelsey doesn't really want to talk about it much. Both are a bit tired...bedtime should be easier tonight too. God bless all the schoolteachers of the world...we parents couldn't do it without you!
For those of you who may be wondering...these are pics from our recent Eminger-Rigsby camping trip to Chattanooga, TN. It was a great weekend get-away to a very nice, family-friendly city. We enjoyed the Choo-choo, Rock City, Ruby Falls, the incline and strolling about the downtown area. I think it's safe to say that fun was had by all! Even sleeping 4 adults ans 4 children in one pop-up camper. This set of photos also includes one post-camping photo of Kelsey sporting her new hairdo...short!
This group of photos includes several at our neighborhood pool (where Kelsey recently learned to swim all by herself!) and one of the girls playing in the rain in our front yard. The others are from the camping trip...at the Chattanooga Choo-choo, an awesome downtown fountain, Luke going for ride, and the Eminger's on the walking bridge.
Well, the kids seem to be adjusting. They both LOVE to play outside. Kaitlyn has learned to climb trees, and even though I did the same when I was young, it still scares the bejeebees out of me. Her friend, Raegan (pictured above) is also part monkey. When she is not in the tree, Kait likes to ride her bike down the little hill in the backyard...no wipe-outs yet! Kelsey spends quite a bit of time just digging in the dirt. We already have several holes in the yard. She also loves to pick flowers, jump on the trampoline and well...just run. Everywhere. So, I guess the kids don't mind Georgia so much. It's rarely acceptable to wear shorts and a t-shirt on the average March 13th in Ohio! Refer to the JANUARY pictures in Ohio (below)!
Note: The above post has been corrected, thanks to my scrutinizing brother, Hotrod, who apparently delights in pointing out my shortcomings! Silly me, I didn't double-check the date stamp on my picture so my memory was two days off. Thanks a million, Hotrod!
Cut me some slack...it was 7am. You know how well I function at that hour. It is astounding I managed... read more
